Terms of Service
Last updated August 24, 2026
These terms are an agreement between you and 8x Social, the maker of CookRight. By creating an account or using the app or cookright.app, you accept them. They're written to be read, so please do.
What CookRight is — and is not
CookRight generates recipes constrained by the dietary profiles you set up for your household, and checks every recipe and every substitution against a versioned ingredient list before showing it to you. It is a planning tool, and a careful one.
It is not medical advice, and it cannot make food safe.Ingredient formulations change, labels change, manufacturing lines are shared, and kitchens cross-contaminate. You remain responsible for what you cook and serve: always check the label on every product you use, follow the guidance of your doctor or allergist, and treat the app's checks as a second pair of eyes — never the last word. If an allergy in your household is life-threatening, that responsibility is one the app is deliberately built to support, not to replace.
Recipes are generated by an AI model and then checked by our own deterministic checker. The checker decides what you see; the model never overrules it. But generated content can still be wrong about timings, quantities or technique — use your judgement in your own kitchen.
Your account
You sign in with your email address and a one-time code. You must be at least 13 years old — 16 where your country sets that as the minimum — and old enough to enter this agreement where you live. The people you add to your household do not sign in and need no accounts of their own.
You are responsible for what happens under your account, for keeping access to your email secure, and for the accuracy of the profiles you create — the checks are only ever as good as the rules you give them. If you add another adult as a second cook, they can see and edit everything in your household; add only people you intend to share it with.
Plans and billing
- The free plan is free for good. It includes a set number of freshly generated meals each calendar month — currently three — plus your household profiles, a shelf of saved and cook-again recipes (currently three of each), up to two guest seats per meal, and the full allergen checking. It requires no card and does not expire.
- CookRight Pro removes the monthly generation limit, the saved-recipe, cook-again and guest caps, unlocks Cook Mode, and adds the features listed on our pricing page. It is sold as an auto-renewing monthly or yearly subscription — $4.99 per month or $39.99 per year in the United States, with local pricing set by the App Store elsewhere.
- There is no free trial and no introductory offer. The free plan is the way to try CookRight. If that ever changes, the offer will be stated plainly in the app before you buy.
- Payment is charged to your Apple ID at confirmation of purchase. The subscription renews automatically at the same price for the same period unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the current period ends. Your account is charged for renewal within 24 hours of the period ending.
- Manage or cancel in your device's subscription settings — that is the only place a subscription can be cancelled, and deleting your CookRight account does not cancel it. Cancelling stops the next renewal; the current period runs to its end.
- Refunds are handled by Apple under their policies, not by us. We will help you ask, but we cannot issue one.
- “Unlimited” means unlimited home cooking, subject to a fair-use ceiling generous enough that a household will not meet it. Prices can change; if yours does, you will be told before it takes effect and can cancel first.
- Allergen checking is never behind the paywall. Every recipe the app shows — free, lapsed or subscribed — has been checked against every profile at your table.
Fair use
Don't abuse the service: no scraping or hammering the recipe generator, no automated or resold access, no attempts to defeat the safety checking or to reach another household's data, no reverse-engineering our systems, and nothing unlawful. Generation is rate-limited; the limits are generous for a family cooking a meal and hostile to everything else. We may suspend accounts that behave otherwise.
Your content and ours
Your household data is yours. You give us permission to process it in order to run the service — that is all we use it for, as the Privacy Policy describes in detail. Recipes the app generates for you are yours to cook, share and keep. The app, the site, the CookRight name and everything behind them belong to 8x Social.
Ending things
You can delete your account at any time, in the app or on the deletion page; deletion is immediate, complete and permanent. We can suspend or close accounts that break these terms or the law. If we ever discontinue the service, you will get notice first and time to get your recipes out.
Liability
The service is provided as-is. To the fullest extent the law allows, 8x Social is not liable for indirect or consequential damages, and our total liability is capped at what you paid us in the twelve months before the claim. Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded — including for death or personal injury caused by negligence — and nothing in them waives rights that consumer law gives you where you live. Where local law gives you a better deal than this page does, local law wins.
Changes
If these terms change materially, we will tell you in the app before the change applies. Continuing to use CookRight after that is acceptance.
